Biography
Darren Daulton spent more than 16 years in the Philadelphia Phillies organization before finishing his career with the 1997 World Champion Florida Marlins. He played in 1,161 Major League Baseball regular season games between 1983 and 1997 and was a member of two National League Championship teams. During his career he won the RBI title, Silver Slugger Award, and Comeback Player of the Year Award. He is ranked as the 25th greatest catcher of all-time by Bill James in the 2003 edition of the Historical Baseball Abstract.
He was a strong-armed, All-Star defensive catcher who annually ranked among league leaders in throwing out base runners. Darren became known for his intensity on the field and outstanding leadership in the clubhouse. His mental toughness as a catcher was unmatched; he continued to play for years despite nine knee surgeries.
During his career, Darren’s combination of leadership, work ethic, and playing skills made him a standout throughout the league. Darren will be coaching at camp and teaching the baseball skills that made him a champion.
